Beijing, March 7th (Xinhua) – Zhu Jian, a National People’s Congress representative and mayor of Hengyang City, Hunan Province, said that the inadequate or missing relevant standards are affecting the development of the new energy storage industry. He suggested that in order to break through industry barriers, regulate market development, better build a unified national market, and further enhance the international competitiveness of industrial development, it is urgent to accelerate the improvement of the national standards for solid-state batteries for energy storage.
With the increasing demand for energy, solid-state batteries, as a new type of energy storage technology, are becoming the “darling” of the industry, attracting battery companies and related application industries to compete for layout. The industry predicts that by 2030, the new energy storage market will reach a scale of trillions of yuan.
From the perspective of energy storage technology, traditional liquid lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries pose a risk of thermal runaway. With higher safety and energy density requirements, solid-state batteries have become an important direction for the future development of the battery industry. From the perspective of environmental protection, solid-state batteries have also become a better choice.
At present, solid-state lead batteries, as a new type of solid-state battery for energy storage, have been introduced in both international and domestic markets. As an upgraded version of lead-acid batteries, it can achieve normal charging and discharging capabilities under extreme conditions such as short circuit, high temperature, low temperature, earthquake resistance, waterproofing, corrosion, etc. It has high safety and has gained broad application space.
In the industrial hub of Hengyang, Hunan, Hengyang Ruida Power Supply Co., Ltd. has innovatively developed acid free solid-state batteries (OPzV solid-state lead batteries). Zhu Jian introduced that China’s solid-state lead-acid battery technology for energy storage has a relatively mature application in overseas markets. China’s lead reserves rank first in the world, and solid-state lead batteries can achieve 100% resource recycling without any raw material anxiety. The industry has promising development prospects.
Zhu Jian found through research that the unified standard construction of industry general technology, planning and design for solid-state batteries is not perfect enough. Promoting the introduction of national technical standards for solid-state lead batteries for energy storage has become a common call in the industry.
Therefore, Zhu Jian suggested that the State Administration for Market Regulation take the lead in guiding leading enterprises to improve their enterprise standards, helping them consolidate the international market and expand into the domestic market; Guide local provinces such as Hunan Province to quickly introduce local standards and promote the large-scale application of solid-state lead batteries; Jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, we will study and issue the national standard for solid-state lead batteries for energy storage as soon as possible.
